| My First Hollywood Premiere: Clash of the Titans |
|
Christine Dinh's Blog: First off I just want to say thank you, Lupe, Veronica, & Cinemovie.tv, for the opportunity to attend the "Clash of the Titans" Premiere yesterday. My sister and I arrived about an hour early so we had time to kill and check out what Hollywood was like prepping for a big premiere such as "Clash of the Titans". When the event started, we walked the carpet but to my surprise it was walking the brown carpet instead of red, seeing all the press with cameras and mics it finally hit me--I was actually attending the premiere. There were props used in the movie placed along side the carpet such as an enormous model of the scorpion & stone statue of Draco (played by Mads Mikkelsen) who gets turned into stone by Medusa (played by Natalia Vodianova).
As we were making our way towards the doors of the theater I heard commotions of cameras snapping people yelling, turns out I was only steps away from Trevor Donovan (Teddy from '90210') and Kristoffer Polaha (Blaze from 'Life Unexpected'). I thought walking the carpet was surreal but I was completely wrong. Let me just say stepping foot into the Grauman's, being escorted to your seats and the moment you sit down waiting 'til the curtains open and lights dim--moment by moment it registers "This theater is AMAZING & gorgeous".
By the way did I fail to mention there was an unlimited amount of popcorn & drinks for any moviegoers dream? We sat in our seats for a bit til I realized that sitting a few rows in front of us was a band member from The Used.
Being a fan of Greek Mythology I enjoyed "Clash of the Titans" in 3D very much probably because I came in unbiased, never seen the original 1981 "Clash of the Titans". There were many parts of the movie that could have been seen in 2D (without the glasses) and still enjoy the movie just as much. Maybe the 3D played a role of distracting from the movie instead of enhancing the movie at some parts. The 3D effect seems to only be there to give the movie's scenery a more textured look and feel because it didn't provide the 'in your face' feel to the few and far between action sequences of the movie.Watching the movie you can definitely tell that its something action junkie Louis Leterrier ("Transporter 2," "Unleashed") would direct. Nevertheless, I'm not a big CGI expert, 3D or not still liked the movie and definitely waiting til it's released on dvd wouldn't mind having it part of my movie collection. As the movie came to an end and credits started rolling, normally you would see people leaving the theatre but at the premiere, each cast members name got an applause from those attending, louder applause obviously towards Louis Leterrier, Sam Worthington, Liam Neeson, and Gemma Arterton.
If you're a fan of Louis Leterrier's work, Greek mythology action, or Sam Worthington--MUST go see "Clash of the Titans". The movie premiere was a mind blowing experience even til the very end. I can cross off "attend Hollywood movie premiere" off my bucket-list. Would I watch "Clash of the Titans" again?--Yes. Would I attend another movie premiere, if given the opportunity?--Definitely hands down yes! I hope this wont be my last premiere. Nothing beats experiencing a movie premiere than attending it yourself.
