Ryan Reynolds GreenLantern interview

GREEN LANTERN star Ryan Reynolds had to wipe away some tears after watching the DC Comic movie adaptation in 3D for the first time.

In GREEN LANTERN, Ryan Reynolds' character Hal Jordan becomes the first human to become a Green Lantern, a protector of the intergalactic order of the Green Lanterns Corps. To film the world of the Green Lantern Corps and Green Lantern super powers, Ryan spent the majority of the production on a blue screen. The galaxy and Planet Oa would later be added in with computer graphics. According to Ryan, the GREEN LANTERN was his first film that required "so much post-production."

At a recent Beverly Hills press conference with Ryan, his co-stars and director Martin Campbell, the Canadian-born actor said he used his imagination to visualize the planet and his alter ego the Green Lantern. But his vision of the film didn't prepare him for the final product. After recently watching the Martin Campbell-directed film in 3D, Ryan jokingly said he "weeped" when he saw the "mind-blowing" effects.

"To see these guys, these immensely talented artists who are world builders, create this universe around me that I interacted with in a very real way, was just mind blowing," said People Magazine's 'Sexiest Man Alive.' "I've never been part of anything like that. It was a feet of engineering onto itself. And that was pretty spectacular that first time. I saw it in 3D as well and it was just...I mean...I was practically weeping. It was pretty incredible."

Ryan's co-star and fellow Green Lantern in the movie Mark Strong seconded the emotion also calling his first viewing of the GREEN LANTERN "mind-blowing."  "It was amazing to see the environment you were in and what you were kind of watching.  And see it realized."  GREEN LANTERN villain Peter Saarsgaard was "extraordinarily impressed" while Green Lantern's love interest Blake Lively called it "special" after watching it for the first time.

The GREEN LANTERN cast and filmmakers hope audiences will feel the same way.

GREEN LANTERN is in movie theaters June 17, 2011.
