When David Cronenberg and Viggo Mortenson were working on Eastern Promises  near Michael Fassbender's London home in 2007, the relatively unknown actor hoped he could one day work with the master of venereal horror one day.  Fassbender's dream came true with his collaboration in David Cronenberg's A DANGEROUS METHOD.

Michael Fassbender can check off many items on his wish lists. Leading man - check.  Superhero role (X-Men) - check.  And working with a prolific director - check. Michael Fassbender took the role of Carl Jung in A DANGEROUS METHOD and confesses that he's always been a huge fan of David.

"I remember when they were filming "Eastern Promises", I lived around the area, and I thought wouldn't it be great to be on a David Cronenberg set."

While David's films can be violent and dark, he found out the fillmmaker behind the camera is actually the opposite.  They joked a lot on set and described the Scanners director as "very sweet and loving and generous and humorous."

Not only did Fassbender take the role to work with David but Michael is drawn to characters that have conflict and insist that it makes for better viewing.  He prefers  provocative films that "makes us questions things."

Drawn from true-life events, A DANGEROUS METHOD takes a look into the developing world of psychoanalysis and a glimpse into the turbulent relationships between psychiatrist Carl Jung, his mentor Sigmund Freud and their patient Sabina Spielrein.  

A DANGEROUS METHOD opened in New York and Los Angeles November 23rd in a limited release. The release goes wider December 16, 2011.
