Nicolas Cage tells CineMovie the Ghost Rider avoided donning the green screen suit and opted for real life stunts that involved the director putting himself in danger to get the shot.
CineMovie's Zay Zay sat down with the GHOST RIDER: SPIRIT OF VENGEANCE star in Miami to chat about his return as the Ghost Rider for a sequel that takes place in Europe with crazier stunts courtesy of the directors that brought us Crank. The directing team of Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor are known for their outlandish stunts on camera from the Crank movies. They applied the same guerilla-style shooting methods for GHOST RIDER: SPIRIT OF VENGEANCE. In the interview, Cage explains one of the stunts had Neveldine riding a motorcycle or on roller blades with a camera to catch the action which put the director in harms way. Another shot had one of the directors bungee jumping with a camera. The directors favor real-life dare devil tactics over special effects for action sequences. The Ghost Rider star was also glad not to shoot on a green screen or wear a "green oufit" for the shoot. He says he was in full Ghost Rider "regalia" on set. Like the directors, he enjoys shooting action sequences in their environment's rather than in a production studio. Cage adds that the movie is different because of these true-to-life action sequences.
