Not only was the first look at VENOM revealed but VENOM director revealed which iteration of the comic book will be the focus of Tom Hardy's Marvel anti-hero. Here's what we know as of now.

Tom Hardy and VENOM director Ruben Fleischer (ZOMBIELAND) made an appearance via satellite at the Brazil Comic Con panel Thursday from the set of VENOM in Atlanta, GA. During the appearance, a lot was revealed about the upcoming superhero movie. Here's what we know.

With so many iterations of VENOM, there were many directions the movie adaptation could take. Tom Hardy's VENOM will be the anti-hero instead of the villain. The actor was wearing the first image of the movie version of VENOM on a t-shirt.

Director Ruben Fleischer revealed this VENOM will be based on two of the VENOM comic books, "Lethal Protector" and the Planet of the Symbiotes. The series was a limited six-issue comic book from Marvel Comics thAt launched in 1993.

The director promised "bad ass action, VENOM's dark humor and an absolutely stunning performance from Tom Hardy." Hardy also promised to bring his A-game. "I give you my word of honor that I'm going to do everything I can to deliver the best VENOM I can possibly muster because I know how important it is to you and I know how important he is to the Marvel universe, and I know how important it is to all of us here so that's what we're doing."

Movie will be set in San Francisco where Eddie Brock has gone for a fresh start after New York City.

In one of the comic book stories, Earth is invaded by an army of symbiotes known as Scream, Phage, Riot, Lasher, and Agony. Although Spider-Man joins VENOM in the fight in the comics, rumor is there will be no Spidey in this movie version.

A slogan was also revealed with "We are #VENOM" being the motto for the movie.

VENOM opens October 5, 2018.
