Netflix has once again surprised subscribers with a star-studded action movie that will be released a month from the trailer debut. Jamie Foxx, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Dominique Fishback star in the action thriller, PROJECT POWER. With a highly interesting concept, PROJECT POWER will no doubt break all sorts of records on opening day on August 14. Watch the exciting new trailer.
After Netflix's success with EXTRACTION starring Chris Hemsworth and the Charlize Theron led THE OLD GUARD, I'm no longer skeptical Netflix can deliver the goods with an action movie. The streaming service is killing it with that genre, and they are generally more satisfying than any other theatrical movie in the last year.
The plot is a great concept. Jamie Foxx's character creates a pill that when taken gives you superpowers for a short period, but users won't know what kind of powers until it takes effect. Foxx and a cop played by Gordon-Levitt team up with a teenage dealer (Fishback) to get those red pills back. Read the official plot description below.
Official Synopsis
On the streets of New Orleans, word begins to spread about a mysterious new pill that unlocks superpowers unique to each user. The catch: You don’t know what will happen until you take it. While some develop bulletproof skin, invisibility, and super strength, others exhibit a deadlier reaction. But when the pill escalates crime within the city to dangerous levels, a local cop (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) teams with a teenage dealer (Dominique Fishback) and a former soldier fueled by a secret vendetta (Jamie Foxx) to fight power with power and risk taking the pill in order to track down and stop the group responsible for creating it.
