'Don't Breathe 2' Filmmakers Fede Alvarez and Rodo Sayagues Talk Challenges of Making The Villain Into The Hero In Sequel

Dont Breathe 2 Stephen Lang and director Rodo Sayagues on set

Fans of the horror-thriller DON'T BREATHE were surprised to hear that the villainous blind man played by Stephen Lang would return in a sequel as the savior of a little girl. Writer/director Rodo Sayagues and writer/producer Fede Alvarez discuss the challenges of taking the villain from the first film and making him empathetic as the hero in the follow-up. The film hits theaters only on August 13.

Stephen Lang reprises his role as the blind man from DON'T BREATHE, but in the sequel, the character is seemingly the good guy helping a young girl. The premise for DON'T BREATHE 2 seems like a hard sell for anyone who's watched the first movie in which he savagely killed the intruders and he had a woman locked up in his basement.

Nancy Tapia sat down with the filmmaking duo to discuss these challenges of converting a villain into a hero in DON'T BREATHE 2.

If you're feeling left out or want to revisit the original 2016 film, DON'T BREATHE is available on Fubo TV with a subscription, or rent it on Amazon Prime for $2.99.
