While an interesting watch, THE NIGHT CLERK fails to provide a protagonist to root for. As much as the film attempts to extensively validate the reasons behind the lead character's voyeuristic ways, it's still too creepy to get past it.

Last year, director/writer Rian Johnson was the most hated man for his changes to the STAR WARS saga with THE LAST JEDI, but his latest KNIVES OUT may win back some of those haters. KNIVES OUT is outrageously good with a great cast, and once again the filmmaker takes risks to bring us a fresh take on the murder mystery genre.

In 2015, Disney released a FROZEN short to play ahead of Pixar's COCO, and it was 21 minutes of torture. Suffice it to say, my expectations going into FROZEN 2 were very low. So to my surprise the follow-up to the massive 2013 hit was equally entertaining and ten times more hilarious and magical.

Tom Hanks is Mr. Rogers in A BEAUTIFUL DAY IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD but he's not the focus of the story. However, you'll leave the movie theater loving Mr. Rogers more after he helps another person overcome their anger. A Mr. Rogers bio pic never materialized but we were happily surprised. James Mangold delivers a powerhouse of a film with FORD V FERRARI with electric performances by Matt Damon and Christian Bale. You don't have to be a racing or car enthusiast to enjoy this new release that's not so much about cars but a friendship that develops over creating Ford's first racing car. Too bad the Ford company doesn't fare so well as the villains in the movie.

GEMINI MAN director Ang Lee and WETA Digital have given us the first CGI human, and shot in 4K 3D to give viewers a more immersive experience. Shot with 120 frames per second the result is a virtual reality-like feel but you also get the video look. Is this the way of the future for cinema?

I thought the JOKER movie was the best film this year until I watched PARASITE. This Korean film by director/writer Bong Joon-Ho is like nothing you've ever seen and the pacing keeps surprising you at every turn.
