Danny Trejo stars in DEATH RACE 2 now on DVD and Blu-ray.  The leading man from Robert Rodriguez's Machete talks to CineMovie about his love of classic cars, lowriders, and the one vehicle from Death Race (2008) he would love to have.  

Danny Trejo plays a mechanic in DEATH RACE 2 and in real life, he knows a thing or two about cars.  The star of the Death Race prequel admits he's a cruiser and loves fixing up cars.  He is the proud owner of a 1936 Touring Sedan, 1952 Chevy Pick-Up and a '76 Cadillac Seville which have all been lowered for cruising and not racing.  His love of lowriders started in his youth when rode on street cars in Downtown Los Angeles a long time ago when he was four, he said jokingly.

The Social Network was the big winner at the 68th Annual Golden Globe Awards hosted by Ricky Gervais.

The Social Network took Best Picture, Best Screenplay, Best Director for David Fincher, and Nine Inch Nails frontman turned composer Trent Reznor won his first award as Best Original Score for the movie based on the creation of Facebook.  The Fighter, as expected, swept the Best Supporting Actor and Actress category with Christian Bale and Melisso Leo taking home Golden Globes.  The Kids Are Alright tied with The Fighter for two wins for Best Actress Annette Bening and Best Comedy or Musical.

PHOTO: New Spiderman Suit Revealed

Sony Pictures has released the first image of Spiderman's new suit for the reboot of the Spiderman franchise starring Andrew Garfield.

The dark-ribbed suit clearly indicates the story might take a dark turn a la Batman Begins for the untitled Spiderman prequel.  The origins story stars The Social Network's breakout star and last year's newcomer Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy.  While the plot of the film has not been revealed, we know it takes place in high school.

Male actors dominated The Harris Poll's annual list of favorite movie stars with Johnny Depp taking the number 1 spot.  Only one actress made the top five of the online poll.  

Since Johnny Depps turn as Captain Jack Sparrow, the 47 year- old remains a favorite among moviegoers.  He takes the spot from last year's numero uno, Clint Eastwood who dropped way down to number 9 for 2010. Denzel Washington also moved up in popularity to the number 2 positiont, followed by John Wayne, Harrison Ford, and the only female actor in the top five -- Angelina Jolie. Add a comment

Director Iciar Bollain's También La Lluvia is a political drama set in Bolivia starring Gael Garcia Bernal and Luis Tosar.  A crew arrives in Bolivia, one of the cheapest countries in South America with the highest population of indigenous people, to shoot a historical period film based on Christopher Columbus brutal colonization which is still echoed in the treatment of the locals by the government and subsequently by the production itself. During the shoot, the locals rise against the government, threatening the film.

Javier Bardem and Ryan Reynolds Compete For Goya Awards

The Goya Awards, Spain's equivalent to the Academy Awards, announced the nominees Tuesday and some familiar faces from this side of the Atlantic made the cut for the best in Spanish Cinema for 2010.

Four films captured most of the nominations.  Balada triste de trompeta (A Sad Trumpet Ballad) by director Álex de La Iglesia, President of the Spanish Film Academy, will be the one to beat with fifteen nominations. Ician Bollain's political drama Tambien la lluvia (Even the Rain) starring Gael Garcia Bernal trailed behind with fourteen while Rodrigo Cortés' English-language film, Buried (Enterrado) with Ryan Reynolds, earned ten.  Alejandro Gonzales Iñarritu's Biutiful with Javier Bardem garnered eight Goya nominations.

Angelina Jolie, Jessica Alba, George Lopez, Twilight Saga: Eclipse and Burlesque are just a few possible candidates for the 31st Annual Razzie Movie Awards celebrating the worst films and performances of 2010.

2010 was a good year for really bad films and many have made the Razzie;s nominating ballots, according to The  Envelope. The event which takes place February 24th has sent out members a shortlist of possible nominees that include The Bounty Hunter (Jennifer Aniston, Gerard Butler), Clash of the Titans (Sam Worthington), Sylvestor Stallone's The Expendables, Jonah Hex (Josh Brolin, Megan Fox), Grown Ups, Vampires Suck, Yogi Bear, Little Fockers, Sex and the City 2, Killers (Ashton Kutcher, Katherine Heigl), and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse (Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson) as options for the Worst Picture of the Year.

Robert Rodriguez's over the top action movie MACHETE comes to DVD and Blu-ray January 4.  Too bad the DVD extras and behind the scenes are not as equally over the top but the deleted scenes of Jessica Alba's slutty twin sister should make up for it.
