Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire image

GODZILLA X KONG: THE NEW EMPIRE is campy as hell in the vein of the Japanese classics, SON OF GODZILLA (1967) and DESTROY ALL MONSTERS (1968). True Godzilla fans will enjoy the heck out of this movie, while others may not understand the shift in tone from the previous Hollywood movies.

Road House movie 2024 with Jake Gyllenhaal and Conor McGregor image

Doug Limon's ROAD HOUSE shares a similar plot and main character's name from the 80's Patrick Swayze movie but other than that, the Jake Gyllenhaal-led film amps up the violence and humor in a very different and entertaining manner. UFC fighter Conor McGregor makes his feature film debut, and steals the show as a beast of an antagonist.

Alan Ritchson and Hilary Swank in Ordinary Angels movie

Hilary Swank and Reacher’s Alan Ritchson star in the inspiring and remarkable true story, ORDINARY ANGELS. The two leads turn in compelling performances especially Ritchson who proves he can play beyond the tough guy persona, but it's Swank who elevates the film from an ordinary faith-based movie.

Dune Part Two starring Timothee Chalamet and Josh Brolin

Director Denis Villeneuve delivers a visual spectacle in DUNE: PART TWO. The sequel is slower paced than the first installment with the director taking time for Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) to prove himself the messiah to the Freman. The standout is Austin Butler’s turn as the creepy warrior Feyd-Rautha.

Night Swim 2024 movie review

NIGHT SWIM, starring Wyatt Russell (Monarch: Legacy of Monsters) and Kerry Condon (Better Call Saul, THE BANSHEES OF INISHERIN, works better as a thriller than a horror film. The characters are riveting and interesting but the payoff is lacking as the story beats fall into the usual horror tropes.

America's Family 2023 movie review

AMERICA'S FAMILY comes at the right time as the conversation around the deportation of undocumented immigrants is resumed with the GOP planning to take back the White House in 2024. Now streaming on many platforms, AMERICA'S DREAM puts faces to those affected by the political game. Produced by The Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights (CHIRLA) through their CHIRLA Liberty Film division, the film plays like an educational film shown at school. Regardless, the movie is a gripping tale of a family torn apart by careless policies, told in a positive light.

Timothee Chalamet in WONKA

Timothée Chalamet is endearing and charming as Wonka. The production design is pure eye candy. The musicals were delightful and unexpected. Director Paul King of PADDINGTON fame, brings the same kind of energy and vibe.

Killers Of The Flower Moon Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert DeNiro, Lily Gladstone | Courtesy of Apple TV

Based on the true story of the 1920s Osage Tribe Murders, Martin Scorsese's KILLERS OF THE FLOWER MOON depicts the story from the villain's point of view (played by Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert DeNiro) rather than from the victim's perspective. Scorsese delivers a cinematic juggernaut but the filmmaker's choices are somewhat baffling. The three-hour and 26-minute run time is felt but the intensity of the escalating events increases the tension.

Marvel Loki season 2 tom hiddleston owen wilson ke huy quan still

Tom Hiddleston and Owen Wilson continue to make a great team in the second season of Marvel's Loki. The second season flows at a better pace now that the Time Variance Authority (TVA) is no longer a foreign concept. With that out of the way, we can enjoy the buddy comedy of Loki and Mobius at the center of the fun.
