The life story of Mexico's iconic figure and actor Cantinflas is coming to the big screen in the U.S. this summer on August 29. The Spanish-language biopic stars Spanish actor Oscar Jaenada as Cantinflas, Barbara Mori and Ana Layevska.
Pantelion acquired the U.S. distribution rights to CANTINFLAS, the iconic figure often called the Mexican Charlie Chaplin. Mario Moreno aka Cantinflas gained fame in Mexico by playing impoverished characters. Starring in almost over 50 movies, Cantinflas also landed in Hollywood starring in Around the World in 80 Days with David Niven and went on to win Best Picture at the Oscars.
CineMovie spoke with Oscar Jaenada back in 2010 while promoting his film Losers with Zoe Saldana, and he was sporting the iconic mustache for the shoot taking place at that time. So the film has been in the making for the last couple of years.
"Sopranos" actor Michael Imperioli serves as one of the producers.
