Bluey headed to the movie theaters with new movie

Bluey' Movie Heads to Cinemas August 2027

BBC Studios and Walt Disney Studios, in partnership with Ludo Studio, announced today that the beloved blue heeler is heading to the big screen. The first-ever Bluey feature film will open in cinemas on August 6, 2027.

Written and directed by Bluey creator Joe Brumm, the CG-animated adventure is produced by Amber Naismith (Happy Feet, The LEGO® Movie) and co-directed by Richard Jeffery (Bluey, Series 1–3). Brumm also serves as executive producer alongside Justine Flynn for BBC Studios and Charlie Aspinwall and Daley Pearson for Ludo Studio. The film is being overseen for Disney by David Greenbaum, president of Disney Live Action and 20th Century Studios, and his team.

Fan favorites Melanie Zanetti and David McCormack return as Mum (Chilli) and Dad (Bandit), bringing the Heeler family to life in their big-screen debut. The film promises to expand the Emmy® and BAFTA Award-winning world of Bluey like never before.
BBC Studios is financing and licensing the film, with Walt Disney Studios handling theatrical distribution. Production is supported by the Australian Government through the Producer Offset and Screen Australia, along with the Queensland Government via Screen Queensland’s Post, Digital and Visual Effects Incentive.
