Josh Hutcherson has two hits under his belt so far in 2012.  The Hunger Games is a bonafide blockbuster while Journey 2: Mysterious Island also surpassed $100 million earlier this year.  For the actor's next release, Hutcherson returns to the indie world with DETENTION, a slasher teen comedy that marks the 20-year olds turn as a producer.

In DETENTION, Josh stars as an student in the horror comedy set in a high school starring Dane Cook, Shanley Caswell and Spencer Lock.  Local students of Grizzly Lake must survive their final year of high school. Standing in their way is Cinderhella, a slasher-movie killer who has seemingly come to life and is preying on the school’s student body. As the clock ticks and the bodies pile up, the likely suspects are embroiled in a race against time to stop Cinderhella and ultimately save the world… if only they can get out of detention.

During the Hunger Games press day, Josh mentioned he's looking into getting behind the camera as a producer, and balancing big-budgeted fare with independent films.  DETENTION marks his first-time producing a film.

DETENTION will hit theaters in limited run starting April 13, 2012 in New York, Los Angeles, Burbank, Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Houston, Miami, San Diego, San Francisco and Seattle.
