Actor Chris Hemsworth is taking audiences on his most personal adventure yet with Chris Hemsworth: A Road Trip to Remember, a moving one-hour documentary premiering November 23 at 9/8c on National Geographic, and streaming the next day on Disney+ and Hulu.
In this heartfelt special, Hemsworth sets out on a motorcycle journey across Australia with his father, Craig Hemsworth, who was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. Their goal: to rekindle memories, revisit old friends and familiar places, and explore how connection and community can help protect brain health.
Moving beyond his physical challenges featured in LIMITLESS, this new special focuses on emotional strength — highlighting the profound impact of social connection and nostalgia on cognitive health. Along the way, Chris and Craig’s road trip — from suburban Melbourne to the remote Northern Territories — becomes a powerful exploration of father-son love, laughter, and healing.
Guided by Dr. Suraj Samtani, a dementia specialist at the University of New South Wales Centre for Healthy Brain Aging, the film intertwines science and storytelling. Dr. Samtani’s research reveals that people with strong social connections can cut their risk of developing dementia in half and may even slow cognitive decline after diagnosis. The documentary explores practices such as:
• Reminiscence Therapy – revisiting past experiences through photos, videos, and familiar places
• Social Connection – maintaining regular, meaningful interactions with others
• Social Bridging – participating in community activities that strengthen belonging and engagement
“My Dad and I had always spoken about taking a trip back to the Northern Territory, where our family had lived years ago, but we had never been able to set aside the time,” said Hemsworth. “More recently the idea of taking that road trip reemerged with more pressing importance. The result was a more profound, more moving, and more surprising journey than I ever anticipated.”
A Road Trip to Remember is produced by Darren Aronofsky’s Protozoa, Jane Root’s Nutopia, and Chris Hemsworth and Ben Grayson’s Wild State — the same creative team behind LIMITLESS, which became National Geographic’s second most-watched streaming series ever.
With its sweeping Australian landscapes and intimate moments, Chris Hemsworth: A Road Trip to Remember promises to be an emotional, inspiring, and deeply human exploration of love, memory, and the bonds that endure through time.
