A new director has obviously infused some new energy into Robert Downey Jr's fourth outing as Tony Stark/Iron Man. Best known for writing Mel Gibson's Lethal Weapon and directing Downey in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Shane Black's darker take of the Marvel franchise certainly peeks our interest. It is a welcome departure from Stark's snarky attitude, but we can't go without some kind of funny interjections from the egotistical hero.
In the trailer, Tony Stark and his main squeeze Gwyneth Paltrow's Pepper Potts are under attack from the villaineous The Mandarin played by Ben Kingsley. At the start of the preview, Tony Stark fills us in where he stands after the Avengers defeat Loki and his alien army in New York. According to Stark, about a 100 people are trying to kill him and that's where we see Guy Pierce who may be another villain after the suited superhero. The climatic soundtrack also lends to the seriousness of the movie, and a great choice.
The teaser movie poster was released a day prior to the unveiling of the first look. IRON MAN 3 hits theaters next summer May 3, 2013.
