Sunday at the Star Wars Celebration in Chicago, "The Mandalorian" writer/executive producer Jon Favreau and director/executive producer Dave Filoni unveiled footage, plot and images of the characters in the Disney+ new series. Wonder at the four new images below featuring Carl Weathers, Gina Carano and a suited up Pedro Pascal, and get the scoop on the plot.

The Mandalorian, played by Pedro Pascal, also made an appearance at the Star Wars Celebration along with his co-stars Gina Carano and Carl Weathers. During THE MANDALORIAN panel, Favreau and Filoni revealed their inspiration for the new show comes from spaghetti westerns and samurai movies which were George Lucas' inspiration for the original trilogy. The events in "The Mandalorian" takes place after the fall of the Empire in RETURN OF THE JEDI. They also said they took inspiration from the 1978 Star Wars Holiday Special and the Ewok 1984 television movie, "Caravan of Courage." The latter two television specials were largely panned at the time, but the executive producers don't see it that way.

The new images do have that spaghetti western feel. Gina Carano revealed she plays a loner and ex-Rebel shock trooper finding her way back into society after the fall of the Empire. The first look at her character, Cara Dune, also reveals she's going to be super bad ass in "The Mandalorian."

Carl Weathers aka Apollo Creed in the ROCKY movies, plays Greef, a sort of leader in a bounty hunter guild bringing clients and bounty hunters together for jobs. He also revealed at the panel that no character in "The Mandarin" is innocent, and most are nefarious.

At the panel which was live streamed, three minutes of footage was previewed for an early look but only the attendees at the panel viewed the early preview. Those who were there described the footage screened which featured Greef bringing the Mandalorian to the client for a mysterious job.

Favreau and Filoni hyped up THE MANDALORIAN so effectively that we may be looking forward to this more than Episode IX: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER. Although we welcome both.

THE MANDALORIAN series premieres on Disney+ on November 12, 2019.
