Christopher Nolan’s The Prestige, starring Hugh Jackman, Christian Bale, Michael Caine and Scarlett Johansson, is heading back to theaters for its 20th anniversary, giving audiences a new way to experience the filmmaker’s twist-filled thriller on the big screen.

The Walt Disney Studios will re-release The Prestige beginning January 29, 2027, with the 2006 film screening in 70mm and IMAX for the first time. The theatrical run will also include 35mm and Digital 2D presentations.

“I’m very excited to bring The Prestige back to the big screen, and particularly thrilled to offer audiences the chance to see it on 70mm film, and on IMAX for the first time,” Nolan said in the announcement.

Jackman stars as charismatic showman Robert Angier opposite Bale as gifted illusionist Alfred Borden. Once friends and partners, the two magicians become bitter rivals after a tragic accident, launching an escalating battle of obsession, deception and sabotage as each becomes determined to uncover the other’s secrets.

Directed by Christopher Nolan from a screenplay he co-wrote with Jonathan Nolan and based on Christopher Priest’s novel, The Prestige originally opened in U.S. theaters on October 20, 2006. The film earned two Academy Award nominations, for Best Cinematography and Best Art Direction.

The Prestige returns to theaters January 29, 2027.
