Binge Gal's Watch List: Wuthering Heights, Crime 101, Eternity, Cross Season 2 Reviews

This week’s binge lineup delivered everything from gritty crime drama (Crime 101, Cross season 2) to sweeping romance (Wuthering Heights), a family drama (It's Not Like That), and an existential comedy (Eternity). Here’s how each title stacked up:

Crime 101

Comparable: Heat

Crime 101 is a polished, but familiar crime thriller about a meticulous jewel thief (Chris Hemsworth) pursued by an obsessive detective (Mark Ruffalo), with strong performances — especially from Hemsworth, Halle Berry and Barry Keoghan — elevating its uneven pacing. While it attempts to refresh the genre, the film underutilizes Los Angeles as a backdrop and lacks the atmospheric punch of classics like Heat and Collateral, leaving it stylish yet not entirely memorable.

Rewatch factor: Low

It’s a solid ride — just not one you’ll immediately queue up again.

Wuthering Heights

Comparable: Romeo & Juliet
Wuthering Heights reimagines Emily Brontë’s classic as a visually intoxicating, sexually charged fever dream, with director Emerald Fennell framing Cathy and Heathcliff’s romance as seductive, voyeuristic, and unapologetically toxic rather than politely literary. Anchored by hypnotic performances from Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi, the film pairs lush cinematography and modern music with emotional brutality, delivering a provocative adaptation that’s as disturbing as it is beautiful.

Rewatch factor: High

Like any epic romance, it invites revisiting — especially for fans of tragic love stories.

Cross – Season 2

Comparable: True Detective
Season 2 expands its ensemble while following Alex Cross (Aldis Hodge) as he hunts a ruthless serial killer targeting billionaires, with Alona Tal, Matthew Lillard, and Jeanine Mason adding sharp new layers of tension and unpredictability. Showrunner Ben Watkins balances multiple character arcs with tight momentum, delivering a gripping, emotionally charged thriller that sustains suspense across all eight episodes.

Rewatch factor: High

This season rewards a second watch — there are layers you might miss the first time.

It's Not Like That (Wonder Project on Prime Video)

Comparable: Parenthood

It's Not Like That stars Scott Foley and J.R. Ramirez as two longtime friends navigating complicated relationships, career crossroads, and the emotional baggage that comes with adulthood. Blending sharp humor with heartfelt drama, the series explores modern love, shifting loyalties, and the messy reality behind the phrase, “it’s not like that.”

This relationship-driven drama shines in character development and emotional payoff. The performances feel authentic, and the storytelling stays consistent.

Rewatch factor: Low
A meaningful watch — just not necessarily a repeat one.

Eternity (Apple TV+)

Comparable: The Good Place

Eternity stars Elizabeth Olsen, Miles Teller, and Callum Turner in a romantic drama set in the afterlife. Larry (Teller) enters the afterlife as a young man, where he has one week to decide where he'll spend eternity. Larry's wife, Joan (Olsen), joins him in the afterlife soon after, but there's one complication - Joan's first husband (Turner) waited 30 years for Joan to join him. Now, Joan must pick the husband she'll spend the rest of eternity.

Philosophical yet playful, Eternity delivers across the board with strong production, satisfying twists, and thoughtful themes. The music and tone support its existential leanings beautifully.

Rewatch factor: Low

A clever concept that sticks with you, even if you don’t revisit it right away.
