Vince Vaughn, James Marsden, Eiza González, and—plot twist—Vince Vaughn again - star in the action comedy Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice, coming March 27 to Hulu and the Disney+ bundle.
Supporting stars Keith David (They Live, The Thing), Jimmy Tatro, Stephen Root, Lewis Tan (Mortal Kombat), Ben Schwartz (Sonic the Hedgehog), and Arturo Castro (Tron: Ares) join director and writer BenDavid Grabinski (Scott Pilgrim Takes Off) in this chaotic, time-traveling adventure.
Vaughn plays double duty as Future Nick, a gangster who travels back in time to fix a double-cross his past self committed. He enlists his friend Mike (Marsden), mob assassin Alice, and present-day Nick to avert disaster. The twist? The future and past selves work together, turning a familiar plot into a comedy of errors with explosive action.
The twist in this familiar plot is that the future and past characters join forces rather than avoiding each other. The result is a comedic ride in this stylized, R-rated action-comedy.
Seeing Double
Vince Vaughn shines in both roles, perfectly balancing two mindsets while visual effects seamlessly sell the dual presence. Marsden, Gonzalez, and the Vaughns have electric chemistry, and the script cleverly uses humor and emotion to make us care about the characters.
The Action
Fight scenes and shootouts hit John Wick-style intensity. Marsden steps out of his superhero roles (X-Men) to show off bare-knuckle fighting skills in a showdown with Vaughn, and his expert gunplay makes him a convincing assassin.
Luckily, Grabinski gives Gonzalez more to do than be the pretty face in the mix. Alice doesn’t partake in the fight scenes, but she’s an equal partner in the group.
Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice delivers laughs, thrills, and heart — perfect for a fun movie night at home.
