In the new Moana trailer, Dwayne Johnson debuts a curly-haired wig for his return as the demigod Maui in the live-action adaptation, and it's a bit jarring. The Walt Disney Company unveiled an extended preview along with a poster and behind-the-scenes look at the adaptation.
Catherine Lagaʻaia stars as the wayfinder Moana, and the cast includes John Tui as Moana’s no-nonsense father, Chief Tui; Frankie Adams, who portrays Moana’s playful and strong-willed mother, Sina; and Rena Owen as Moana’s revered Gramma Tala.
Moana is exclusively in theaters July 10,
An “Artistry of Moana” featurette offering a special behind-the-scenes look at the making of “Moana,” with commentary from Dwayne Johnson, Catherine Lagaʻaia, director Thomas Kail, costume designer Liz McGregor and choreographer Tiana Nonosina Liufau, also debuts alongside the trailer.
