Will Ferrell, in a John Edwards-inspired do, plays long-term North Carolina congressman Cam Brady, a politician up for re-election with no rival candidates until Zach Galifianakis enters the picture. Zach is Marty Higgens, the director of the local Tourism Center, coaxed into running against the undisputed congressman. The unlikely candidate enters the cutthroat campaign with the help of a ruthless campaign manager and a powerful family that elevate him into a viable contender for people's votes. As Election Day closes in, Cam and Marty are locked in a dead heat, with insults quickly escalating to injury until all they care about is burying each other, in this mud-slinging, back-stabbing, home-wrecking comedy from Meet the Parents director Jay Roach that takes today's political circus to its logical next level. Because even when you think campaign ethics have hit rock bottom, there's room to dig a whole lot deeper.
