PREY joins the elite class of sequels that are better than the original. The Dan Trachtenberg film delivers such a unique take and style that revives the franchise, and makes it the most clever film in the IP.
Add a commentDavid Leitch’s BULLET TRAIN delivers exactly what the trailer promises, a quirky action movie. Brad Pitt shares the spotlight with Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Brian Tyree Henry, Joey King and Andrew Koji with fully developed characters.
Add a commentTHOR: LOVE AND THUNDER continue the quirkiness that started in RAGNAROK but the Taika Waititi’s MCU follow-up is all over the map as far as tone. That’s not to say LOVE AND THUNDER isn't as fun but it takes a more somber turn for the final act. Natalie Portman doesn’t disappoint, earning the Mjolnir, and Christian Bale is a worthy villain as Gorr.
Add a commentPrime Video’s The Terminal List series, based on Jack Carr’s novel, drags after the first episode with flat performances from Chris Pratt and most of the cast. The lackluster and unoriginal story is a cross between THE FUGITIVE and DEATH WISH, but the action gets better towards the end of the eight-episode season.
Add a commentMINIONS: THE RISE OF GRU is the fifth feature film in the franchise, and you get what you came for - fun. A prequel to the DESPICABLE ME movies and an origin story, the animated flick is set in the 1970s to funky music which really sets the mood for some hilarious Minions and Gru antics.

Baz Luhrmann’s ELVIS movie is the best biopic about the King. Luhrmann’s story recognizes Elvis Presley’s musical influences from the Black community and his interaction with the segregated group. Austin Butler captures the charisma of Elvis and those expressive eyes. Tom Hanks gets the job done as the despicable and manipulative manager.
Add a commentEthan Hawke is creepy as hell as a kidnapper in Scott Derrickson’s THE BLACK PHONE, an original horror-thriller that will leave you feeling satisfied with a well-crafted story and an original premise.
Add a commentVeteran actors Andy Garcia and Eugenio Derbez headline new movies that put Latinos front and center in a positive light with no narcos in sight. Andy Garcia's reboot of FATHER OF THE BRIDE premiered on HBO MAX and Derbez's remake of the French film, THE VALET is now streaming on HULU.
Add a commentHBO Max‘s FATHER OF THE BRIDE reboot does its own thing with a Latino flavor. It’s a refreshing portrayal of a family that doesn’t involve any of the negative Latino stereotypes or cliches.

LIGHTYEAR, Pixar’s latest movie is a throwback to the classic space adventures a la Buck Rogers with some modern upgrades. Chris Evans delivers the perfect pitch as Buzz Lightyear and SOX the robot cat is the next hot merchandise.
Add a commentIf you felt the need for speed in 1986 after watching TOP GUN, MAVERICK will make you feel the need for G's. Tom Cruise and the TOP GUN: MAVERICK filmmakers do justice to the original and even improve on the action and emotions.
Add a commentSam Raimi brings his brand of humor and horror to the latest MCU installment, DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS. The sequel is by far the most bloody and violent out of all the MCU movies. Some of the action is brutal and let’s just say a massacre will leave your jaw on the floor.
Add a commentUPDATE: THE NORTHMAN is now available on Digital, 4K and Blu-ray.
Robert Eggers delivers exactly what you’d expect from the filmmaker in THE NORTHMAN. However unlike his previous projects, THE NORTHMAN may be the most straightforward film, but it still veers into the weird realm.
Add a commentEvery question you’ve ever had about Nicolas Cage will be answered in THE UNBEARABLE WEIGHT OF MASSIVE TALENT. Cage fans will be delighted with this self-parody while non-fans may be scratching their heads as to why the audience is laughing their heads off.
Add a commentMark Wahlberg once again taps into a true story for a starring role. While an inspirational faith-based film, FATHER STU is all over the map in tone and the storytelling is often lazy. You will, however, shed a tear because you are invested in Stu’s journey and the A-list cast.

Before you head out to see FANTASTIC BEASTS THE SECRETS OF DUMBLEDORE, you may want to revisit the events from THE CRIMES OF GRINDELWALD. Four years of passed since the last installment and you’re painfully aware of that when the new movie begins and things don’t make sense (at least in my case).

Sonic the Hedgehog returns to delight families in SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 2. It’s more of the same but a little less humorous with a more kid-friendly vibe.
Add a commentIf you’re going into MORBIUS for a comic book adaptation, you’ll be disappointed. MORBIUS plays like just another vampire movie rather than an origins Marvel story. With a predictable plot, inconsistent beats, flat dialogue and lingering characters with no purpose, MORBIUS is a huge letdown. The end credits feel like an afterthought that leaves you questioning your own sanity.
