Diego-Boneta interview image

Mexican actor/singer Diego Boneta is a rock star in his native country, but now he gets to play one in ROCK OF AGES alongside Tom Cruise for his first film in Hollywood. Regardless of his fame down south, he couldn't get anyone in Hollywood to pay attention until director Adam Shankman came along and cast him as the lead in the Broadway musical adaptation.

Not a bad gig when you make your movie debut alongside A-list actors Tom Cruise, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Russell Brand, Alec Baldwin, Russell Brand and your love interest is Julianne Hough in ROCK OF AGES.  Boneta sat down with CineMovie's Zay Zay in Miami to chat up the ROCK OF AGES star about his starring role in his first movie role and why he would love to be either Bono or Mick Jagger if he had a choice between rock gods.

Born and raised in Mexico, the 22-year old started out as a child actor and starred in the popular teen telenovela Rebelde. While on the Mexican soap opera, Boneta released his debut album titled Diego and toured with Mexican pop group RBD. He arrived in Hollywood in 2010 and played bit parts in "90210", Disney Channel's "Pretty Little Liars," and Mean Girls 2.

Now the Mexican native is starring in a major Hollywood production which he is very excited about as evident in Zay Zay's interview with the ROCK OF AGES star.  Watch our interview.

ROCK OF AGES is in movie theaters June 15, 2012.
