Wicked movie with Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande news

Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, Michelle Yeoh, Jonathan Bailey (Bridgerton), Jeffrey Goldblum, and WICKED director Jon M. Chu graced the CinemaCon stage at Caesar’s Palace’s Colisseum to introduce an extended clip from the new movie. The exclusive preview focused on Glinda and Elphaba’s introduction to each other when Glinda arrives at Shiz University.

The first clip featured the voice of Jeff Goldblum as the Wizard. On stage, the flashy-looking actor fits the bill as the conniving Wizard and his voice matches that larger-than-life personality. Goldblum introduced director Jon M. Chu and producer Chris Platt who revealed the production shot the two movies back-to-back.

Jonathan Bailey ("Fiyero") and Michelle Yeoh ("Madame Morrible") joined the filmmakers on stage. Yeoh joked with Chu whom she worked with on CRAZY RICH ASIANS for casting her once again as a tough-as-nails character.

Saving the best for last, Erivo and Grande took the stage to promote the film and introduce the extended clip.

The clip starts out with Elphaba arriving at Shiz University feeling like an outcast, and Glinda being a bit of a mean girl when she has to share her room with the new student. Glinda gifts Elphaba with a cursed witches' hat that will become part of Elphaba's iconic outfit.

The world of Shiz is a vibrant, Hogwarts-style school that is welcoming yet filled with mean girls.

Glinda comes around, and soon the girls are palling around. When Elphaba is summoned to the Wizard's lair, Glinda tags along for support and curiosity.

There we see the man behind the curtain, the Wizard who will set her off on the course we all know so well.

WICKED PART ONE hits theaters on November 27, and PART TWO on November 26, 2025.
