Man of Steel Teaser Foregoes Action For Character Story

man-of-steel-teaser-poster-fullAnother DC Comics' character gets a makeover at the movies as a conflicted hero dealing with his superpowers. Warner Bros. released two teaser trailers starring Henry Cavill with the same exact footage except with 2 different narrations. One trailer features Clark Kent's earth-bound father played by Kevin Costner giving him the familiar speech "with great powers comes great responsibility" speech.  In another trailer, Russell Crowe as Jor-El dispenses advise to his son on becoming a symbol for the earthlings.  Both trailers show a bearded Clark Kent living on the high seas as a fisherman, pondering his existence. You get a brief glimpse of Clark Kent as Superman, flying at a rapid speed and leaving trail marks in the sky.

Fans took to Twitter and Facebook complaining about the lack of action, but this character piece obviously indicates the type of film it will not be - strictly a remake.  The teaser poster was released earlier this month at Comic Con featuring a barely visible Superman with his head down.  Christopher Nolan's influence is apparent as one of the Executive Producers on the film.

Lucky Comic Con attendees watched additional footage that included some actions scenes at the MAN OF STEEL panel with director Zack Snyder and Henry Cavill.  Youtube fans uploaded the Comic Con footage, but Warner Bros. took most of the down, however, some can still be found on the video site.

MAN OF STEEL doesn't hit theaters until next summer on June 14, 2013.
